MV Narrative has been designed with accessibility standards in mind, inclusive of people with varying needs and abilities. Public spaces are laid out with minimal steps and ramp alternatives whenever possible. One of the swimming pools is accessible for people with mobility issues. Common area dimensions are designed to meet functional needs and create more space to maneuver mobility aids, such as doorways sized for wheelchair access.
When boarding and disembarking the ship, the gangway area is equipped with a ramp that can be placed over the steps and the tender service area allows access to wheelchair users and passengers with physical disabilities.
A number of wheelchair accessible residences can be designed following ADA requirements as a unit upgrade for unit types RU3 and higher. Pricing will be informed during the construction process. The scope of work to include:
- Increased clear width of door openings
- Grab bars in bathroom and shower
- Roll-in sill free shower
- Automatic toilet flush
- Compliant heights for shelves, mirrors, towel rails, sinks and vanity units
- Compliant bed and desk heights
- Careful placement of electrical socket
- Emergency call arrangements with alarm in hotel manager’s office and bridge
